My mixed media works are made combining my fiber arts and painting techniques using cloth, paint, paper, photographs, and modeling paste. I take silk cloth I have painted and wrap it around canvases coated with gel medium, then shape it to create a three-dimensional surface that results in curving folds of various lengths and widths. Before wrapping the cloth, to create a more sculptural effect I use modeling paste to build up the canvas surface. In past work I have made free-standing cloth sculptures and will do so again for upcoming projects.
